Christi Allen, owner and instructor at Pilates in Paradise,
is a Certified Pilates Instructor Level 5 through world renowned
Romana's Pilates. Christi has 1500+ hours of training in the
Pilates Method from Master Teachers from all over the country.
Christi began her fitness career in 2000 as a personal trainer.
This is where she was first introduced to "pilates".
Even though it wasn't the real thing, it was just enough to
peak her interest. In June 2002, after much research and 120
hours of private instruction (at least 75 was required) with
a certified Romana's Pilates instructor, Christi began her
studies in New York under pilates protege, Romana Kryzanowska,
and her daughter Sari Mejia Santo, and grand-daughter Daria
Pace. Christi not only spent many hours in New York with many
great teachers, but she also spent many hours in South Florida
working with Level 3 Instructors completing the program in
November of 2004.
She is very excited to share her love for Pilates with all
of her clients. Christi has aspirations of sharing Pilates
with prospective teachers as well.
Christi also hosts a radio show every Saturday morning on
96.9fm at 8:00am called Living Fit with Christi Allen. www.easy969.com.
Tune it to learn more about mental, physical, spiritual and
environmental health.
Kerri Ann Bender, a Certified Pilates instructor at Pilates
in Paradise, began dancing at the age of three. Her formal
training began at eight years old at the Charleston Ballet
Theatre School and she graduated high school from the prestigious
North Carolina School of the Arts with an emphasis in ballet
performance.
In 1993, Kerri began her professional dance career, with
the Charleston Ballet Theatre. She performed with the Company
for four seasons, which afforded her the opportunity to dance
in ballets encompassing a wide range of styles.
In 2001, Kerri took her first Pilates private lesson and
became very interested in the discipline. Always a beautiful
compliment to dancing, Pilates seemed a natural progression
of her own work in movement. Her interest increased and in
February 2003 she completed the Romana’s Pilates Teacher
Certification Program. While living in DC and studying in
NY, she apprenticed with Romana Kryzanowska, Sari Mejia Santo,
Daria Pace, and Michael Rooks; some of the most respected
instructors in the industry. Kerri is a Level 4 Teacher which
allows her to continue teaching clients while also training
apprentices looking to become Pilates instructors.Since 2003,
Kerri has been an instructor at Pure Joe Studios in Washington,
DC and Reston, VA; and, more recently, Bermuda Bodyworks,
on the island of Bermuda.
Kerri first joined Pilates in Paradise as a seasonal instructor
in January of 2007. She has returned to the Keys to rejoin
owner, Christi Allen, and teach full time at the new studio.
Kerri is excited to return to Pilates in Paradise and looks
forward to sharing her joy of movement and her knowledge of
Pilates with both clients and apprentices.
"We HIGHLY recommend Kerri
